Hey little train! Wait for me!
I was held in chains but now I'm free
I'm hanging in there, don't you see
In this process of elimination

Yes, yes, from that infamous dance scene in the new HP movie. And before you hardcore canon shippers go in a tizzy, yes I am a H/HR shipper (and proud of it. Dun care what ppl say). But the reason why I adore this scene has absolutely nothing to do with my couple preferences. And those of you who hate it purely because it isn't in the book, or because you're a hardcore canon shipper ARE MISSING THE POINT OF THE SCENE!

Rather, I was more overcome with the situation, the song, the emotion of it all. These were children who were forced into growing up quickly, for the first time all on their own. Their closest friend just left and they're feeling more alone than ever; the weight of the world literally on their shoulders. At this point you can just tell they're just so tired and vulnerable.

Then Harry holds out his hand and does a goofy little dance with Hermione and in that one second they're just the children that they're meant to be. And when it's over, the burden is a little bit lighter, but it doesn't change the fact that it's still there.

I literally teared up just because the entire thing was so bittersweet and heartbreaking (yes I'm a sap. duh), and yet at the same time I couldn't help but giggle at the silliness. And no, Harry/Daniel Radcliffe genuinely can't dance. But I think it's so great that he can't. It just makes it all the more innocent. It's an apology, a thank you, an affirmation that he's there for her even when he doesn't know how to be. And most of all, it's an escape.

One of the most poignant scenes I've ever seen. The song they chose was really perfect for it too. Also from a directing standpoint, this scene was needed as a break from the constant angst and anxiety. As much a comic relief for the characters as it was for the audience.

End. Ramble.

Anyway, it was a while since I felt so moved by something in a movie that I had to draw it. I hope I caught it right. Admittedly it gave me a bit of practice with sketching interacting characters. For some reason it was hard!

When the very author admits that Harry and Hermione would have been a better couple but went through with Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny anyway.
